Wish List

Birthday PresentsFrom the Poetic Asides blog:

Here’s the final “Two for Tuesday” prompt of the month:

  • Write a matter poem. Matter is what things are made of.
  • Write an anti-matter poem. The opposite of a matter poem.

Wish List

Give me no presents
made of matter
for my birthday.

Those crude atoms
and motley molecules,
however beautifully arranged,
bore me, casting shadows,
distorting spacetime
into gravity.

Give me something
that doesn’t clatter,
clutter or collect dust.
Give me something
ineffable, transcendent.

Give me something real!
