Littrick Grave

Marriage 9 January 1845, Franklin County, Indiana
Death 9 January 1898 6 April 1886

Of all the ancestors in my collection thus far, finding this grave made me the most proud. Not only were they my first great great great grandparents, this visit also marked the first time I learned something my grandfather, the genealogist, did not know. My intention was just to do some research. I did not expect to actually find their tomb.

Yet there’s still so much more to learn. I suppose one of the joys of genealogy is there’s always another generation to research. There’s always more to do and it reminds me, to quote Newton, that I am “standing on the shoulders of giants”.

That is especially true in my case. Thanks for the boost, Grandpa.

Husband and children must leave you
Leave yes, leave you all alone.
But my blessed saviour calls me
Calls me to a heavenly home.
